On May 25, 1977, George Lucas released Star Wars into theatres across the United States and Canada. Despite being a throw-back to the film-making of the 1930s and ’40s, the movie changed the very language of film going forward. To reacquaint myself with older, more deliberately paced films I am watching one pre-1977 movie each week and writing about the experience.This endeavor was vaguely inspired by Nicholas Tam’s Wednesday Book Club.
